| Rotary
Sports Festival - 2000 Rotary Sports Festival-2000, a co-venture between Rotary Club of Nigdi, Rotaract Club of Nigdi and Jnana Prabodhini Navnagar Vidyalaya, Pradhikaran was organised between 17th February to 20th February 2000 at Jnana Prabodhini Grounds. Rotary Sports Festival is 12 year old yearly event for promotion of sports activity in Pimpri-Chinchwad Industrial Township. Every year around 40 schools and more than 1500 participants take part in the event. This year the event was inaugurated at the hands of Chief Guest Rtn Al-Azhar Contractor, Assistant District Governor of RI District 3130 and Guest of Honour, Mr Rajiv Ranade, Commissioner of Income Tax, Pune along with several Rotarians, Anns and Rotaractors. Vidyanand Bhavan High School, Nigdi and Jnana Prabodhini Navnagar Vidyalaya, Pradhikaran took the honour of highest medals tally in the Boys and Girls Sections respectively. Vidyanand Bhavan was awarded 'Mandhir Rai' Trophy for 8 Gold, 8 Silver and 9 Bronze Medals, whereas Jnana Prabodhini was awarded 'Cotmac' Trophy for 10 Gold, 7 Silver and 4 Bronze medals. The event was concluded on 20th February 2000 by prize distribution at the hands of Chief Guest PDG Rtn Deepak Gangoli of RI District 3130 , Mr Pratap Rao Godse, Trustee, Dagdu Sheth Halwai Ganpati Trust, President Rtn Ishwer Thakur, Youth Director Rtn S A Latif, Rotaract President Rtr Pooja Kulkarni, Jnana Prabodhini Chief Mr Vamanrao Abhayankar, Principal Mrs Suman Shenoy, Sports Co-ordinator Mr Manoj Devlekar, many Rotarians and Rotaractors were present. The event was also witnessed by Group Study Exchange Team from Brazil on tour to RI District 3130. The Brazilians took part in Running Relay Event and secured Bronze medals. Thus this year's Rotary Sports Festival became an international event! |
